I just came out of the shower, drying my hair when the doorbell rang - Ahren must be home. But I know he won't come to our room right away. He always goes to his study first to change, probably because he doesn’t want to make me uncomfortable or maybe because his clothes are sometimes covered in blood. He only comes to our room at night to sleep, and even then, he always asks if he can sleep on the bed or not. If I say I'm uncomfortable, he takes the couch without a word. But honestly? I don't feel that scared or uneasy around him anymore. Besides, I keep pillows between us as a barrier and Ahren has never once crossed that line.
